Sao - Dice Print

$30.00

10.5" x 12.5" Letterpress print

This print is from a limited edition of 20; each print is signed and numbered on the back side.

This piece was created by applying ink to the upper surface of actual dice that were carefully positioned on the bed of a Vandercook 317 letterpress. Prints of the composition are made by rolling a sheet of paper directly across the array of dice after each each fresh inking.

These particular prints were created by running the paper though the press twice, first with red ink and then with blue ink. By changing the arrangement of the dice between the impressions the pips in the dice will appear as either red, blue or just the color of the paper - plus there is the darker color that gets rendered where the two ink color fully overlap.

The heavy-weight manila cardstock used in this edition has been finished with hand-torn edges on all four sides. It is a relief print that was printed on a manually cranked letterpress, using oil-based ink. After each edition of prints is completed the dice are cleaned, repositioned and reused in the next design.
